    Cob Building

Foundation Learning Pathway - Cob Building

Cob - a mixture of earth, straw and water - is one of the oldest and most sustainable building materials on earth. Thousands of cob buildings survive across Devon, Somerset, and beyond, many centuries old. This pathway covers earth science, soil testing, the physical craft of mixing and building, repair techniques, the 'good hat and good boots' principle, and the specialist training routes that keep this endangered skill alive.
